Colouring book
As a warm-up for my book before I pitch it to Colin, I'm making a fine-art colouring book for kiddies. The concept for the book hasn't evolved much, hopefully It'll change to something slightly simpler before I get started. In other news, my third poster for the comedy society has been approved by the student union, and two copies of it are up on the walls of the atrium. I was supposed to print four, but the printer wasn't having it, and I have very little patience with the library printers. Also, the briefs for the 2011 D&AD student awards come out next week! Exciting times, kids.

Comedy Poster #2
Comedy poster #3 nears completion, and I wonder how long this will be a monthly occurrence. To be fair, I have a sweet deal- all I need to do is make the occasional poster and manage the society twitter account and then I get to sit on a special chair alongside the society president and co-president; a privileged position without having any real responsibility!
It comes high time to decide on at least one of this year's big projects. I could easily use the comedy posters, throw in a dvd case and some t-shirts and call that a day, but then I'm very aware that then every project of my final year would be about comedy. I do have other interests! I'm a very deep and multi-faceted individual!
Other ideas I'm playing with are to do the above, but with a band; nice idea since I now have access to a gig space. I also really want to make a book, but what of? My graphic design wort? Too self-aggrandising, and besides, that would be a rather slim volume. Quotations? Poetry? Copyright starts to become an issue. I think the answer is perhaps in all these posters of minimalist interpretations of movies that have been all the rage this past year, I just need my own spin on it. Graphic interpretations of famous artworks, with quotations about the divide between art and design, maybe. I'll need to think about it some more.

Comedy Poster
A new academic year, time to dust off the blog, change the oil, rev the engine and end the metaphor. It's been a very busy summer, but I've still had time for the odd project, such as this poster for a comedy/music night here in Lincoln. The Lincoln Comedy Society has turned out to be a good source of work, having since requested two logos and a further poster, with a third on the way. Time comes to decide on my first final year projects, a daunting thought but I suspect that a big design project can be divided up into many little jobs, as a poster does not exactly equate to a short film or radio show. Watch this space!

daily zine
In the fifth day of my daily zine challenge. Hopefully after after a couple of months I'll start seeing some improvement, as well as some far-out stuff once I start running out of ideas. It's like long-term automatic writing for the slightly lazy photoshop enthusiast. Not that it's limited to photoshop, I've used illustrator in numbers one and five, and soon I should start using photography, as well as found materials and hand-drawn sketches for those days when I just don't have the time or energy. If they start getting good soon, I'll make a separate blog for them all.
